Spring is here and Daylight Saving Time is right around the corner (Sunday morning spring forward an hour)! Starting Wednesday, March 16, 2016, our daily closing time will be 6:30 PM, instead of 5. Shooters must be signed in and out on the shooting line no later than 30 minutes before closing (6 PM). Opening times will not change. For many of you, that means you may be able to swing by and get some group therapy on your way home from work!
Last month’s inaugural Sandhill Shooting Sports 3-Gunners Club Series 3-Gun competition was a success. We have a lot to improve upon, but all-in-all, it was a good day. We’ve already taken a huge step in improving our competitions – several of us here at the range became certified 3-Gun Nation Range Officers last weekend. This should make future competitions run more smoothly.
If you would like to observe any of our upcoming competitions, spectators are welcome. If you are interested in participating in the competition, online registration is on the club web page.
In keeping with our goal of bringing more competitions to the area, we’re working on our Rimfire Challenge dates and are in talks with the NRA about their America’s Rifle Competition (AR platform only), so keep your eyes open for information about those.

We received our “Shooting Range Noise Area” signs and handed them over to the Kershaw County Department of Public Works week before last for them to get them installed on Highway 12 (near the RV park) and on Highway 601 (one somewhere near the Target Distribution Center and one somewhere between Wolfe Mechanical & Bojangles). They haven’t actually been installed yet.
Our ADA compliant ramp & steps to the building entrances were completed last weekend as well as the skirting for the building. It no longer looks like someone abandoned a trailer in the middle of an empty lot – from the front side of the building anyway. We’ve also gotten the parking “curbs” anchored (landscape timbers) and the disabled parking signs up for those parking spots.
The Fire Marshal came do his inspection first thing Wednesday morning & the county’s inspection was Thursday morning. Our electric meter & service connection was done Friday. Unfortunately, something was amiss with the pump/plumbing, so we had to get that squared away Saturday.
We tried to get the rifle benches and pistol tables installed yesterday. The ground is SO HARD that it took several hours to get one rifle bench and one pistol table in the ground. We’re going to have to rethink our strategy there.
