What are your operating hours?

Hours vary by season. Current operating hours can be found at this link. You must have waivers signed, targets picked out, any rental paperwork done (if renting a firearm), and be checked in no later than 45 minutes prior to closing [5:15 PM during Daylight Savings Time and 4:15 PM during Standard Time (winter)].

I don’t have my photo ID with me, will I be able to shoot?

If you do not have a physical, valid photo ID issued by a government agency, you will NOT be allowed out onto the range property.

What is a “valid” photo ID? It’s NOT a picture of your ID on your phone. It’s NOT expired. I DOES have your photo, full name, and date of birth. We prefer a U.S. driver’s license (or other DMV issued ID), but a U.S. military ID, carry permit, passport, passport card, etc. will work. (If you are using a non-U.S. issued Passport, please see the question below about non-citizens.) We do prefer the driver’s license though because it is MUCH FASTER getting you checked into our system because we can scan the QR code on the back of the license instead of typing all the information into our system manually.

Do you have firearms for sale?

Sandhill Shooting Sports has a selection of firearms for sale and can order most firearms for delivery to our location within a couple of business days. We do accept FFL & NFA transfers. If you are planning to have a firearm or suppressor shipped to us please review the information on this page.

Do you have firearms for rent?

We have a selection of pistols, rifles, and shotguns available for on-site rental. You must be at least 18 to rent most firearms and 21 to rent a full-auto.

What are the age requirements to shoot at the range?

You must be at least 18 years old to shoot unaccompanied. Children must be at least 5 years old. We request that children who are not shooting not be on the range. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied and closely supervised by a parent or guardian. A PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN must complete the liability waiver for children under the age of 18. (NOT a “family friend”. It must be the legal guardian.) This can be done online at this link. Persons of ANY age who are being a safety distraction may be asked to leave the range.

Are you an indoor or outdoor range?

We are an outdoor range, but the shooting tables are covered. (The target area is not covered.)

Do you shut the range down if it’s raining?

We do not shut the range down for “rain”. Our shooting tables are covered (target area is not). We do shut down the range when there is lightning in the area. Once the lightning has passed, the range will reopen. If it’s just regular rain…carry on. “If it ain’t raining, it ain’t training.” (If you know, you know.)

What are the distances of your range?

Our pistol lanes go up to 25 yards & our rifle lanes go up to 100 yards.

Do you have to be a member or make an appointment to shoot at the range?

We are open to the public (but memberships are available). We are first-come-first-served. (Members can reserve lanes in advance.)

How much does it cost to shoot at your range?

Lane fees can be found at this link. If you think you will shoot at least 12 hours per year, you should consider getting a membership. (No lane fees for members.)

Do you offer discounts?

Active and retired military (and dependents with military ID), law enforcement, firefighters, EMT/Paramedics, K-12 educators, and FN employees qualify for discounts on range time and memberships. You must show appropriate ID for all discounts.

Do you sell ammunition, targets, hearing protection, eye protection, etc.?

We have most common calibers of ammunition, a variety of targets, eye protection, ear plugs, ear muffs, cleaning supplies, holsters, & other accessories.

What are your range rules?

Range rules can be found at this link.

Is there a dress code?

We do not allow open-toed shoes, tank tops, or low-cut tops. This is a safety issue, not a fashion issue.

What firearms can I use at the range?

If the firearm is legal and can be fired safely, you can shoot it at our range. All firearms must have sights or an optic.

Full-auto, binary triggers, FRT (force reset trigger), and bump-stock style firearms are allowed AS LONG AS YOU CAN CONTROL IT and you are actually hitting your target. If you cannot control the firearm, you will be asked to put it away.

What types of ammo are allowed?

We do not allow steel core/tip, steel shot, tracer rounds, or any incendiary rounds (dragon’s breath, etc.). Steel case is OK…just be sure to PICK UP YOUR CASINGS. Regardless of casing type, PICK IT UP and put it in the buckets provided. If you reload, you are welcome to keep your brass.

Can I use my own targets?

You may bring your own paper or cardboard targets if you wish. If you do not have targets we have a variety of targets available for purchase. We provide the target stands and have staplers on the range to attach targets to our backers.

Do you have skeet/trap/sporting clays?

We allow shotguns to engage static targets only on our range. We refer skeet/trap/sporting clay shooters to the Wateree DNR Range on Sumter Highway in Eastover.

I am a new shooter. Can I get help learning to use my firearm?

Our range officers are on the range to ensure shooter safety. If you need assistance learning about your firearm, need to learn how to shoot, or want to improve your shooting skills, you will need to sign up for one of our group classes or book a time with our instructors for one-on-one instruction. Class offerings and the link to book individual instruction can be found at this link. We do not offer “walk-in” instruction.

Do you have archery targets?

No.

I’m not a United States Citizen. Can I shoot at your range?

If you do not have a valid (not expired, not defaced) photo ID issued by a government entity in the United States you must present your passport. If you do not have a current Visa in your passport, we may confirm your ESTA using the I-94 verification website.

If our staff has ANY doubt about whether or not you are here legally, we will err on the side of NOT allowing you to shoot at the range. We understand this can be frustrating, but we CANNOT risk our federal licenses or risk getting charged personally for allowing prohibited persons access to firearms. Many times, we’ve heard the argument, “Such-and-such range let us shoot.” Well, guess what, we’re are not such-and-such range and we have our own policies and procedures.
